One of the many definitions given for family by Dictionary.com is "all those persons considered as descendants of a common progenitor". I believe, as I think we all do, that the definition goes deeper than that. Although I have the usual make-up of parents, brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews, greats, etc., I have friends that I consider close as sisters & brothers and whom I think of as family.
